If you've been following the Humboldt County cannabis scene, you already know that Cannifest is more than just a festival. It has earned its reputation as the World Series of Cannabis. And for 2026, the event is "stepping up to the plate" in a big way. After more than a decade of celebrating the farmers, brands, and culture of the legendary Emerald Triangle, Cannifest is moving to one of Northern California's most beloved landmarks: the Arcata Ball Park.

Mark your calendars: Saturday, September 12th, and Sunday, September 13th, 2026.

What Is Cannifest? Humboldt County's Flagship Cannabis Festival

Founded in 2015, Cannifest Humboldt County has grown into an award-winning, community-centered celebration of everything that makes the Emerald Triangle famous. From world-class musicians to notable visual artists, cannabis education, and the notorious Headstash Bowl competition, the festival draws visitors from across California and beyond.

This is Cannifest's 11th anniversary — a milestone year that deserves a milestone venue.

"We are incredibly excited to bring Cannifest back to the heart of Arcata," said Stephen Gieder, Founder of Cannifest. "After listening to feedback from our community and stakeholders, we realized the best place to celebrate our harvest culture is right here in downtown. The Arcata Ball Park is legendary ground, and we look forward to activating the space in a way that supports local businesses, reduces travel time for attendees, and creates a true 'town takeover' vibe."

The Arcata Ball Park: Historic Ground, New Energy

For anyone who has grown up in Humboldt County — or spent even one summer evening in Arcata — the Arcata Ball Park needs no introduction. Nestled in the heart of downtown Arcata, this historic venue has served as a community gathering place for generations.

Home of the Legendary Humboldt Crabs

The Arcata Ball Park is best known as the longtime home of the Humboldt Crabs, one of the oldest continuously operating amateur baseball organizations in the United States. The Crabs have played summer collegiate baseball in Arcata since 1945, making the ballpark a treasured piece of California baseball history.

Crabs games at the Arcata Ball Park have long been a Humboldt County institution — beloved for their affordable tickets, family-friendly atmosphere, and that quintessentially small-town charm of watching talented young players under the North Coast sky. Generations of Humboldt families have shared hot dogs, blankets, and summer evenings in those bleachers. The ballpark isn't just a sports venue; it's a living piece of the community's identity.

A Venue Built for Community

Located in downtown Arcata, the ballpark sits at the intersection of community life and local culture. Its open layout, established infrastructure, and central location make it ideally suited for large-scale events — and for a festival that prides itself on bringing people together, it's a natural fit.

Bringing Cannifest 2026 to the Arcata Ball Park means activating a space that Humboldt County residents already love. It also means something tangible for the local economy: attendees will be steps away from Arcata's Plaza, local restaurants, shops, and accommodations, turning the festival weekend into a full-scale downtown Arcata event.

What to Expect at Cannifest 2026

Live Music and World-Class Entertainment

Cannifest has always delivered an impressive music lineup, and 2026 is shaping up to be no different. The festival's history of booking world-class musicians means you can expect a full weekend of live performances across genres — all set against the backdrop of one of Humboldt County's most iconic outdoor venues.

The Headstash Bowl

One of the festival's most anticipated annual traditions, the Headstash Bowl brings together the finest cannabis cultivators from the Emerald Triangle and beyond. If you're a connoisseur of Northern California cannabis culture, this is a must-see event. Expect showcase entries representing the very best of Humboldt County cannabis, Mendocino County cannabis, and Trinity County cannabis — the heart of the Emerald Triangle.

The FIZ: Family Interactive Zone

This is an all-ages event, and Cannifest's Family Interactive Zone (FIZ) ensures there's something for every member of the family. Whether you're bringing the kids or just want a dedicated space to decompress between sets, the FIZ is a Cannifest staple.

Notable Artists

Beyond the music, Cannifest celebrates visual art and creativity. Expect installations, vendors, and artists whose work reflects the vibrant, countercultural spirit of the North Coast.

Cannifest 2026 and the Arcata Economy

One of the most exciting aspects of this venue move is its potential impact on downtown Arcata businesses. By planting the festival right in the heart of the city, Cannifest is actively encouraging attendees to extend their visit: shopping at local boutiques, dining at Arcata restaurants, and booking stays at Humboldt County accommodations.

"We are 100% committed to working with the City of Arcata to deliver a safe, compliant, and unforgettable weekend," said Gieder. This is a festival that gives back, not just to its attendees, but to the community that makes Humboldt County the extraordinary place it is.
